On Monday 24th March 8 year 10 students were taken to the University of Wolverhampton for a maths competition where they were split into two teams, competing against 6 other schools.
The competition consisted of 4 rounds, where the students were exposed to different mathematical tasks, challenging them to think outside the box and approach tasks in teams to solve and score as many points as possible. After four rounds, our teams placed 4th (team A) and 6th (team B) out of 14 teams. Both teams won a round each but unfortunately struggled with the broken calculator round. The students had a great day out and thoroughly enjoyed the trip and the competition.
All of our students represented the school proudly and showed the Smestow Values throughout. They were a real credit to the school and themselves.
